ALL RIGHT, LET'S TAKE A PICTURE.
ALL RIGHT, MATT, YOU SHOULD BE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE.
NEXT ON OUR AGENDA IS, UH, QUESTIONS, COMMENTS RELATED TO OUR CONSENT AGENDA.
UH, ONE ITEM HAS BEEN CALLED IN BY COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART.
[5. Use Permit, PLH22-0064 Horsepower Automotive Group - Propane Tank, 555 E. Queen Creek Road, Located at the Southwest Corner of Hamilton Street and Queen Creek Road Move City Council approve Use Permit PLH22-0064 Horsepower Automotive Group - Propane Tank, for the installation of two 1,000 gallon propane tanks, subject to the conditions recommended by Planning and Zoning Commission. Council Focus Area(s):]
MAYOR.ITEM NUMBER FIVE, I JUST WANNA GET A BRIEF PRESENTATION FROM STAFF ON SAFETY AND, UH, ENSURING THAT THE NEIGHBORS, UM, I THINK YOU'VE MENTIONED THE NEIGHBORS DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH THIS, BUT I WANT TO GET A LITTLE BIT OF A RUNDOWN ON THE, WHERE THIS PROPANE TANKS ARE GONNA BE AND IF THEY'RE SAFE NEAR THIS NEIGHBORHOOD.
UH, MAYOR, UH, COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART? YES, VERY GOOD QUESTION BEFORE YOU.
TONIGHT IS A ZONING USE PERMIT FOR TWO 1000 GALLON PROPANE TANKS.
BUT THIS PERMIT IS NOT THE ONLY PERMIT THAT IS REQUIRED.
THESE TANKS ARE GOVERNED BY BUILDING AND FIRE CODES AND ALSO NEED A BUILDING PERMIT AND INSPECTIONS OF INSTALLATION, UH, FROM MY DEPARTMENT, N F P A 58, WHICH IS ONE OF THE STANDARDS THAT WE HAVE ADOPTED THROUGH OUR CODES, REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 30 FEET TO A PROPERTY LINE FOR THESE TANKS.
HOWEVER, THE NEAREST PROPERTY LINE IN THIS CASE IS 200 FEET TO THE WEST, 200 FEET TO THE EAST, AND IT'S 1,100 FEET TO THE RESIDENTIAL NEAREST RESIDENTIAL ON THE WEST.
THESE TANKS NEED TO BE PROTECTED BY A WALL AND BALLARDS, THE TANKS ALSO HAVE TO BE DOUBLE WALLED.
THEY HAVE TO BE CERTIFIED INSPECTED ANNUALLY.
SO TO END UP, THESE ARE SOME OF THE MEASURES THAT ARE IN PLACE TO PROVIDE SAFETY AND HELP PROTECT THE PUBLIC.
AND IF THERE ARE ANY QUESTIONS, I'D BE HAPPY TO ANSWER THEM.
SO YOU'RE, WHAT'S A BALLARD? IT IS.
YOU SEE THEM? IT IS A, UH, IT'S USUALLY A STEEL POLE THAT STICKS OUT OF THE GROUND.
IT'S EMBEDDED IN THE GROUND AND IT'S USUALLY A BARRIER FOR TRAFFIC, SOMETIMES FOR PEDESTRIANS OR SMALL TRAFFIC.
AND YOU'VE GOT A DOUBLE WALL NEXT TO IT.
SO THE REASON I BROUGHT THIS FORWARD MAYOR IS LIKE, I SAW 2000 POUND PROPANE TANKS, AND I'M THINKING THERE'S A NEIGHBORHOOD A LITTLE BIT AWAY.
WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT, GOOGLE, IT'S THIS FAR, BUT YOU SAID IT'S A THOUSAND FEET OR MORE.
SO I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE THAT IT'S A SAFE PLACE FOR, FOR THOSE TO BE IN, IN INSTALLED.
COUNSEL, ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU DEREK.
COUNSEL, THAT CONCLUDES OUR STUDY SESSION.
WE'LL SEE YOU ALL HERE ON THURSDAY.
