YOU MAKE US LOOK GOOD EVERY DAY.
AGAIN, IT'S EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT CANGO, BUT WHAT REALLY IMPRESSED ME THAT NIGHT IS OF COURSE I WAS ON THE STAGE ALSO.
NOT ONLY THAT I SPOKE ABOUT MY HERITAGE AS BEING A LATINA, BUT WHAT I IMPRESSES ME THE MOST WAS THE FACT THAT, UH, WE HAD THE SCHOOLS THERE AND EVERY ONE OF THOSE CLUBS PARTICIPATE.
WE HAD THE HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL THERE WITH THE MAKER CLUB MEMBERS, JOANNA
[00:15:01]
CASTILE, AND SHE ALSO WAS ONE OF THE SPONSORS.WE HAD CASTILE, UH, HIGH SCHOOL THERE WITH CASTILE, SPANISH CLUB, JACKSON, UH, EGGERS SPONSOR WAS ALSO THERE IN ATTENDANCE.
UM, EVELYN ANDERSON AND SPONSOR WAS ALSO ATTENDING.
WE HAD THE PERRY HIGH SCHOOL THERE.
THE CLUB WAS, SO PORIA HISPANICA WAS THERE.
SO THEY WERE ALL IN ATTENDANCE.
ONE, TWO OF THE SPONSORS WERE THERE WAS NORMA RIOS AND MARIA VG VA WAS ALSO THERE, UH, WITH THEIR CLUB.
HE SUPPORT WAS ALSO WITH THEM AND THEIR CLUB.
SO ARCHIE WAS ONE OF THE SPONSORS THAT WAS ALSO IN ATTENDANCE.
UM, ARIZONA COLLEGE PREP HIGH SCHOOL WAS ALSO THERE.
WE TOOK EDUCATION VERY, VERY SERIOUSLY IN THIS CITY.
AND THIS WAS AN, AN IMPORTANT MOMENT FOR US TO BRING OUT THESE CLUBS SO THAT THEY COULD INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC AND TEACH THEM ABOUT THEIR CULTURE AND EVERYTHING.
I GOT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT, UH, UM, HAITI AND ESPANOLA AND ALSO SANTA DOMINGO, CUZ WE ARE ON THE SAME ISLAND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT.
AND THEN I ALSO, WE ALSO, WHERE'S NIKKI? SHE IS DOING AN AMAZING JOB REGARDING THE DE OFFICE CONCERNING THESE GROUPS AND THESE CLUBS.
EACH ONE OF THOSE CLUB MEMBERS, THEY'LL BEEN AWARDED $200 TO DO SOMETHING IN THEIR CLUB FOR PARTICIPATING INTO THIS THING THAT WE DID, UM, ON SATURDAY.
SO IT WAS AMAZING TO HAVE THEM THERE.
LASTLY, HAPPY MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY.
I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVITED BY THE, UM, GENERAL COUNCIL, GENERAL JORGE, HE'S A FRIEND.
SO THE BIG EVENT WAS AT, UH, PHOENIX, UH, CITY HALL.
BROUGHT PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER ARIZONA THERE.
INDEPENDENCE DAY IS SEPTEMBER 16, NOT MAY 5TH, SAN DE MAYO, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW, UM, MAKING SURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT MEXICO INDEPENDENCE IS THE SECOND, A TWO DAY CELEBRATION.
SEPTEMBER 15 IS A REENACTMENT OF RITO.
THE LOST THE LOES, WHICH IS THE CRY OF THE LOES.
SEPTEMBER 16 IS THEN A GRAND CELEBRATION FOR DIA, THE LA INDEPENDENCE HERE, SIMILAR TO THE 4TH OF JULY IN THE UNITED STATES.
SO REALLY KIND OF CHANGED YOUR MINDSET ABOUT THIS.
AND DE MAYO IS NOT INDEPENDENCE DAY FOR MEXICO.
WITH THAT THERE, I SAID GOODNIGHT.
COUNCIL MEMBER ORLANDO SAYS, LIKE YOU AND I, WERE THE ONLY TWO NOT AT CONTIGO THIS YEAR.
YEAH, BUT I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT CHICKENS BECAUSE YOU STARTED TALKING ABOUT CHICKENS, RIGHT? UM, SO, UH, MONDAY NIGHT SESSION, UH, WE HAD A REALLY GOOD DISCUSSION ABOUT, UH, BACKYARD CHICKENS.
UM, AND THE PROCESS RIGHT GOING FORWARD WILL BE, UH, PLANNING ZONING IN OCTOBER AND THEN NOVEMBER COME BACK TO THE COUNCIL FOR FINAL BOAT OR, OR, YOU KNOW, UH, FOR OPTION, UM, UNDER DIS ORDINANCE.
UM, ANYONE THAT LIVES IN A SINGLE FAMILY HOME WILL BE ABLE TO OWN CHICKENS.
UM, NO ROOSTER WILL BE ALLOWED.
UH, AND OF COURSE, HOA STILL MAINTAIN THEIR RESTRICTION TO ALLOW OR NOT ALLOWED CHICKENS.
BUT, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS WE REALLY, REALLY, UM, UH, WANT YOUR INPUT ON, YOUR FEEDBACK ON.
AND SO, UH, WE SET UP A HOTLINE ABOUT A FEW MONTHS AGO.
WE'VE GOTTEN A FEW PEOPLE RESPOND.
SO I THOUGHT IT'D BE IMPORTANT THAT WE, WE, UH, GET THIS HOTLINE OUT TO YOU.
IT'S CHANDLER AZ.GOV/BACKYARD CHICKENS.
UM, I JUST, UH, IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO KNOW WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS ARE ABOUT HAVING CHICKENS AND CHANDLER, AND THAT'S AS MUCH I'M GONNA SAY ABOUT CHICKENS.
IS IT TIME TO CRY, FILE OR LET THEM ROOST? WHICH ONE IS IT? ALL I KNOW IS I DIDN'T HAVE ANY DINNER.
I CAN'T TOP ANY OF THAT MAYOR OR NOTHING FOR ME TONIGHT.
ALL RIGHT, WITH THAT, THAT CONCLUDES OUR MEETING.
