UM, WE'RE SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE TONIGHT.

COUNCIL MEMBER HARRIS, COUNCILMEMBER LOPEZ, COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART.

WE HAVE A QUORUM.

UH, OR INVOCATION TONIGHT IS GOING TO BE BROUGHT BY REVEREND DENISE BURNS CHANDLER FIRST CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, R R A PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE BY COUNCIL MEMBER ELLIS.

BUT BEFORE REVEREND GETS UP, WHAT'D YOU ASK, PLEASE JOIN ME AND STAND.

AND I THINK WE ARE ALL ENGAGED AND, AND FEELING LIKE THE LOSS IN ANOTHER COMMUNITY IS OUR LOSS.

SO WOULD YOU JOIN ME AND A MOMENT OF SILENCE AS WE REFLECT AND PRAY, OR THE EVENTS OF TEXAS AND NOT TOO LONG AGO, BUFFALO AS WELL.

LET US PRAY GRACIOUS.

GOD, YOU WHO GIVE US EVERYTHING THAT IS GOOD AND RIGHT.

AND PRECIOUS.

THIS HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT WEEK.

SO FOR TONIGHT, THE FIRST THING WE PRAY FOR HIS PROTECTION, AND THEN WE ALSO PRAY FOR DIRECTION BECAUSE THIS GROUP OF DEDICATED WOMEN AND MEN IN THIS ROOM HAVE COME TO DO BUSINESS, TO TAKE CARE OF DIFFICULT THINGS SOMETIMES AND EASY THINGS SOMETIMES.

AND SO WE PRAY THAT YOU WILL DIRECT THE CONVERSATIONS THAT THEY WILL BE CIVIL, THAT THEY WILL BE KIND, THEY WILL BE GENTLE, AND THAT THIS COMMUNITY WILL BE STRONGER AND BETTER AT THE END OF THE EVENING, BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE PROCESS.

AND SO GOD, WE PRAY THAT WHATEVER HAPPENS TO SEASONING, YOU WILL MAKE IT MORE BECAUSE OUR RESOURCES ARE LIMITED OUR TIME, OUR PEOPLE, OUR STUFF, OUR FINANCES.

AND SO WE PRAY THAT YOU WILL STRETCH AND EXPAND AND MAKE IT BETTER THAN IT COULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE YOU WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT AND ALL THESE THINGS WE PRAY IN YOUR NAME.

UH, I WANT TO SHOUT OUT KUDOS AND WE'VE BEEN DOING THAT A LOT RECENTLY AND BECAUSE CERTAINLY THEY'VE BEEN VERY BUSY, BUT OUR, OUR DEI TEAM HAS BEEN QUITE ACTIVE IN PUTTING TOGETHER AND ASIAN-AMERICAN PACIFIC ISLANDER

HERITAGE MONTH EVENTS.

DURING THAT WE DID THE FIRST EVER ASIAN HERITAGE CULTURAL SHOWCASE.

WE DID AN INAUGURAL ASIAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY CONFERENCE.

WE HAD THEMED STORY TIMES AT THE LIBRARY AND I SUSPECT SEVERAL COUNCIL MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN THAT.

IN FACT, THIS LAST WEEKEND I HAD AN, I THINK I HAD TWO EVENTS ON SATURDAY AND EVENT ON SUNDAY AND, UH, JUST WELL DONE, UH, DEMONSTRATING OUR, OUR, UH, RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTION AND MEMBERS OF OUR ASIAN AMERICAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.

SECONDLY, I DO WANT TO WISH EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY AND SAFE MEMORIAL WEEKEND IS WE KNOW TRAFFIC, UH, GETS ALWAYS A LITTLE CRAZY THIS WEEKEND.

GIVE YOURSELF A LITTLE EXTRA TIME AND ENJOY THIS WEEKEND.

AND PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT AND PAUSE AND REMEMBER WHY WE HAVE THIS WEEKEND AND WHAT WE TRULY ARE CELEBRATING AND WHO PAID THE PRICE FOR THAT.

UM, I HAVE A FEW ANNOUNCEMENTS AND I'LL ALSO BE TENDING TO COUNCIL MEMBER LOPEZ ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER I COMPLETE MY, UH, SO THIS LAST FRIDAY I ORGANIZE AND LEAD A CANDLE LIGHT VISUAL TO BRING AWARENESS TO MENTAL HEALTH.

UH, TRULY THE EVENING WAS BLESSED AND SUCCESSFUL.

UH, I'M VERY THANKFUL FOR THE COMMUNITY LEADERS WHO SUPPORTED THIS POWERFUL MOVEMENT.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE STUDENTS WHO LIFTED THEIR VOICE, DR.

PAULA J MCCALL, DR.

KATIE PEARSON, UH, COUNCILWOMAN ELLIS, WHO ALSO JOINED VOLUNTEERS, STUDENTS, AND ALL THE PASTORS FROM VARIOUS CHURCHES AROUND CHANDLER AND SPECIAL.

THANKS TO THE SCHOOLS.

ALSO THIS PAST WEEKEND, UM, LONGTIME RESIDENT LLOYD BOYD.

HE TURNED 100 LAST WEEK AND HE IS, UH, HE IS A LOVER OF MUSIC.

HE PLAYS SAXOPHONE FLUTE IN HARMONICA.

IF YOU DRIVE THROUGH HIS NEIGHBORHOOD, YOU CAN SOMETIMES CATCH A CONCERT WHEN HE LEAVES HIS GARAGE DOOR OPEN.

UH, HE'S A VETERAN AND ALSO IS WILLING TO OFFER A HELPING HAND.

WE WERE SUPPOSED TO MEET AT HIS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, UH, HE WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT HE'S CURRENTLY IN THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW.

UH, SO I WISH HIM A FULL RECOVERY AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM WHEN HE TURNS 101 YEARS OLD.

AND I KNOW THAT HIS FAMILY IS WATCHING AND JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOUR FATHER IS IN OUR PRAYERS AND A HUNDRED YEARS OLD.

THAT'S REALLY REMARKABLE.

IT GOES WITHOUT WORDS.

AND, UH, I'M YOUNG.

I JUST PRAY THAT I GET THERE ONE DAY.

UH, SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, I'M GOING TO SWITCH OVER TO COUNCIL MEMBER, RENEE LOPEZ ANNOUNCEMENT, UH, COUNCIL MEMBER.

UH, HE WILL BE ATTENDING THE VALLEY OF THE SUN CEMETERY CEMETERY FROM MEMORIAL'S DAY ON MONDAY.

COUNCILMAN LOPEZ WILL BE ATTENDING AND PROVIDING REMARKS AT THE MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE AT THE VALLEY OF THE SUN CEMETERY.

THE SERVICE WILL PAY TRIBUTE TO BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES IN BATTLE.

UH, THERE WILL BE REMARKS FROM SEVERAL DECORATED MILITARY MEMBERS, AS WELL AS A FLYOVER.

WE ARE ALSO GRATEFUL FOR ALL OUR MILITARY HEROES.

AND WITH THAT BEING SAID, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I HONOR MY DAD.

HE WAS A VIETNAM THAT WHO DIED AT THE AGE OF 41 YEARS OLD FROM AGENT ORANGE.

AND SO I WILL BE REMEMBERING HIM ON MONDAY AS WELL, BUT THAT BEING SAID, THANK YOU.

YOU KNOW WHAT? I TURNED 101, I'D LIKE A DALMATIAN VICE MAYOR, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY.

AND THOSE ARE MY COMMENTS.

UM, A WEEK AGO OR SO, UH, I ATTENDED THE CYBER SECURITY WEBINAR OR SEMINAR AT THE, UH, THAT WAS PUT ON BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AMAZON WEB SERVICES AND CHANDLER COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT, UH, SAN DEEP, UH, OUR IT DIRECTOR AND I ATTENDED THAT TOGETHER AS WELL AS A COUPLE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE, UH, CHANDLER TEAM, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THE COMMUNITY, UH, OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, WHICH IS OUR EMPLOYEES ARE REGULARLY OUT IN THE COMMUNITY DOING THINGS LIKE THIS.

AND WE, WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THE CHAMBER AND PUTTING THIS ON AND IN CREATING A AND BRINGING TOGETHER LIKE MINDS, UH, SO THAT WE CAN SHARE NOTES.

AND SO I'M VERY EXCITED THAT THESE GUYS ARE NOT JUST LEAVING US, BUT THEY'RE LEAVING US FOR GREATER THINGS.

SO IT'S AMAZING.

THE CITY ALWAYS BUILD THEM UP TO SEND THEM OUT.

SO I LOVE IT.
